(not that I ever update that one either, but there's always hope...)

Loggerhead Shrike Chicks
Every year a pair of loggerhead shrikes nests in our yard and hatches a batch of chicks. This year's chicks are out of the nest today (they may not have had a choice, as hard as the wind is blowing). I snapped a few pictures with my little Kodak Easy Share camera. I was able to get remarkably close to one of the chicks, he seemed as curious about me as I was of him.

Happy South Dakota Cows
It's spring (going on summer) in Western South Dakota. And it rained! Here are some pictures to prove it.
Chickens. The grass around the chicken coop is so tall they almost vanish in it.
Stormy
Gypsy and Spuds sneaking some treats.
My favorite heifer, Miss Piggy. She didn't believe me when I told her the camera was not edible.
One of my buddies, 910 (yes that's her name).
Cows and calves enjoying the grass after being in the lots all winter.
Cottontail rabbit. We had swarms of jackrabbits around the barn all winter (I counted 78 in one bunch). According to an expert (probably a county agent - inside rancher joke), 40 rabbits eat as much as one cow!
Salsify flower
Flowers -- Scarlet globe mallows and Western wallflowers.
